Rymarov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Rýmařov can be discovered through tangible traces of its history, art and urban character. The various sites and themes create a diverse cultural picture of the town.

Culture and History

The “History of Rýmařov” exhibition presents finds dating from the period since the town’s foundation in the 1270s through to the 15th century. Rýmařov Town Hall was declared a cultural monument in 1966. The Rýmařov rectory is also a cultural monument and is one of the oldest and most valuable buildings in the historic town centre.

Archaeology and Town Museum

Hrádek – Burgstadel is a protected archaeological site. At the same time, Hrádek serves as the outdoor area of the geological exhibition of the Rýmařov Town Museum. It contains a reconstruction of the foundations of a residential building in the town castle, with an attached heating installation, illustrating the situation at the end of the 13th century.

Art and Sacred Spaces

Kaple V Lipkách is considered a gem of North Moravian Baroque. From 2013 onwards, it was opened not only to parishioners and pilgrims, but also to tourists and visitors to the town.

In St Michael’s Church in Rýmařov, a simple Baroque rosary chapel was built on the left side of the church nave in 1688; the chapel, altar and gallery are among its most original parts. The altar oil painting depicting the Virgin Mary, Saint Dominic and Saint Catherine of Siena was created around 1725 by the prominent Jan Kryštof Handke, who came from Janovice.

The external exhibition of the Rýmařov Town Museum is located in the building of the HEDVA ČESKÝ BROKÁT textile factory. The Marie Kodovská Gallery is housed in the artist’s former home on Mlýnská Street and displays her works of art as well as objects she used.

Townscape

The townscape of Rýmařov is characterised by a large number of houses with black roofs, including roofs made from original slate roofing as well as roofs with newer coverings.

Events

The Dřevařské, lesnické a myslivecké dny are held annually in Flemmichova zahrada. They include, among other things, lumberjack competitions, demonstrations of modern forestry and timber-harvesting equipment, hunting traditions, regional stalls, catering and an extensive accompanying programme.
