Petřvald is a green town surrounded by lush forests. In the town centre there is the Petřvald educational trail: it is approximately 100 metres long and comprises five stations with information boards. The educational trail also includes an opportunity to walk barefoot.

Nature

The forests around Petřvald invite you to go for walks and easy bike rides. Thus, the educational trail in the centre is complemented by impressions of the town’s immediate surroundings.

Culture

St Henry’s Church combines several historical dates: its construction was completed in 1837, and it was consecrated on 15 July 1838. The Stations of the Cross at St Henry’s Church date from 1843.

Coal mining has also shaped the history of Petřvald. It began in 1833 and ended in 1998. The Technical Museum Petřvald houses the permanent mining history exhibition “Tradice hornictví” about the history, development and significance of mining in the Ostrava-Karviná mining district, with a focus on Petřvald. The museum also presents the exhibition “Kouzelný svět tramvají” (“The Magical World of Trams”).

Leisure

The Domek leisure centre organises workshops, sports and art competitions, creative workshops, summer holiday camps, exhibitions, musical performances and discussion groups. It provides residents of Petřvald and the surrounding area with facilities for active leisure activities.
