Nature

The Dolní Marklovice natural monument extends across the cadastral areas of Dolní Marklovice and Petrovice u Karviné, covering an area of 37.0699 hectares. The conservation objective of the Dolní Marklovice natural monument is to protect the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina). The clayey meanders of the river provide nesting opportunities for the highly endangered kingfisher.

Culture

The Church of the Ascension of the Lord in Dolní Marklovice dates from 1739. It contains floral wall paintings that restorers uncovered at the end of the 20th century. The stone Calvary cross Kamenný kříž Kalvárie in Petrovice dates from 1858. The statue of Saint John of Nepomuk in Petrovice u Karviné dates from the late 18th century. The Chapel of Saint John of Nepomuk in Závada dates from the mid-19th century. The Monument to Saint Wenceslas in Dolní Marklovice was unveiled on 28 October 1930.

Railway

Petrovice u Karviné railway station is the starting point of Railway Corridor II towards Břeclav. The double viaduct in Petrovice was built more than a century ago to allow passage beneath the railway tracks.

Cycling

The Železné cyklotrasy festival is an annual public cycling event connecting Godów, Jastrzębie-Zdrój, Karviná, Petrovice u Karviné and Zebrzydowice. The section of the Iron Cycling Trail in Petrovice u Karviné runs between Závada and Olšiny.
