Karwin: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Karwin, the first tour of Fryštát Chateau takes visitors through the main building and includes 18 château rooms. The first two tours each last approximately 55 minutes and are conducted exclusively with a guide.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Peter of Alcantara was built in the Baroque style in 1736. In summer, it is open to the public free of charge at weekends; a guide is also available. The Karviná City Gallery presents contemporary visual art and is open to the public during ongoing exhibitions.

Parks and Nature

The original château park, now Boženy Němcové Park, was laid out in the English style in 1804 after the Empire-style renovation of Fryštát Chateau and covers 36 hectares. Boženy Němcové Park, together with the historic city centre and Lázeňský Park, is part of Karviná's urban heritage conservation zone.

Historical avenues of trees, rare specimen trees and notable trees have been preserved in Boženy Němcové Park, including a two-lobed ginkgo, a European ash and a London plane. Zoo-Köpfchen is located next to Fryštát Chateau. Fallow deer and red deer, as well as peacocks and waterfowl, live there in an enclosure with rare woody plants.

Cycling Routes and Recreation

From cycle route 6257, you can turn in Darkov via the Sokolovských hrdinů concrete arch bridge onto Lázeňská Street, which leads to the market square in the historic centre of Karviná. Regional cycle route 6097 runs from Těrlicko via Stonava through Karviná; within the city, information signs point to Boženy Němcové Chateau Park and Fryštát Chateau.

Lázně Darkov is based on the exceptional natural wealth of iodine-bromine brine; centres for regeneration and the Svět vitality facility for recreation and wellness have been established there.
