Příbor is home to memorial sites associated with Sigmund Freud, historic churches and educational trails.

Culture and city history

Sigmund Freud's birthplace in Příbor now serves as the Sigmund Freud Museum and houses an interactive museum exhibition. The museum in the birthplace also presents the exhibition “Sigmund Freud – člověk”.

Another special attraction is the exhibition at CETRAT. It includes Příbor slippers made using an archaic knitting technique over a form, as well as objects made from roots, grasses, cattails, pine-needle fibres, straw and horsehair.

The Piarist monastery in Příbor is designated as an immovable cultural monument. It houses the Novojičínsko Museum with a memorial hall dedicated to Sigmund Freud. The former refectory was reopened after a complete reconstruction; the renovated rooms in the west wing are used for social events, wedding ceremonies, concerts and lectures.

The religious buildings include the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, a late Gothic, three-nave structure dating from around 1400. St. Valentine's Church was remodelled into its present Baroque form in 1760–1766; its high altar is decorated with a silver-plated relief depicting events from the life of Saint Valentine. The Church of the Holy Cross in Příbor and the cross there are listed as national cultural monuments.

Nature and educational trails

The Borovecké rybníky educational trail is located in the Borovec district of the town of Příbor. It has around six information panels around Borovec Pond. The Borovecké rybníky near Příbor are two small ponds; their banks are home to the protected Turk's cap lily and the early-spring snowdrop. When the weather is suitable, swimming is possible at the weir near the Borovecké rybníky.

Routes through Příbor

The educational trail through Příbor's urban heritage conservation area has eight stops and is suitable for pedestrians, cyclists and parents with children in pushchairs. It starts and ends at Sigmund Freud Square, where there is an information panel with an audio guide in Czech, English and German.

Cycling

The 10-km Příbor Circuit starts at Sigmund Freud Square. It connects to the educational trail around the Borovecké rybníky, then returns to Příbor and continues to the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The 17-km cycle route 6039 runs from Kopřivnice via Příbor and Skotnice to Nová Horka and provides access to the Poodří Protected Landscape Area.
