Fulnek: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
On Komenského Square in Fulnek stands Knurrův palác, a Baroque, four-winged palace with three storeys dating from the early 18th century.
Culture and History
Its monumental portal features a relief of the Coronation of the Virgin Mary. Knurrův palác serves as a cultural centre for exhibitions, concerts, and other cultural and social events; visitors can tour the palace as part of guided tours.
The former meeting house of the Unity of the Brethren in Fulnek is a national cultural monument. Jan Amos Komenský worked there in the 17th century. The Svět Komenského Fulnek exhibition presents him as a young administrator of the Brethren community, school rector, and priest who came to Fulnek in 1618. It uses projections of contemporary pamphlets from the period of his stay in Fulnek, as well as touch-operated multimedia information kiosks.
Church Interior
The Church of the Holy Trinity in Fulnek has unique fresco decoration and contains a Gothic cloister with a paradise garden. Free guided tours are available there on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 10:00 to 15:00.
Landscape
In the immediate vicinity of Fulnek are Jelenice [Fulnek-Děrné], a hill, and Vladař [Odry], also a hill. The surrounding area also contains Jindřichovský vrch and Horka, both mountains. In the wider regional area around Fulnek, Vildštejn can be found as a ruin.
