Kunín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Kunín Chateau is a Baroque chateau built between 1726 and 1734 for the Counts of Harrach according to plans by Johann Lucas von Hildebrandt.
Culture and History
The tour route at Kunín Chateau includes furnished guest rooms, bedrooms and former classrooms of the chateau school, as well as a painting gallery, a hunting room, a ladies’ room, a large dining hall, and music and dance rooms. A guided tour of the chateau lasts 90 minutes and is intended for groups of at least 3 and no more than 20 people.
Kunín Chateau Park is freely accessible to wheelchair users.
The foundation stone of the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Kunín was laid in 1810. It was the first work of the young builder Franz Biela, was intended for all denominations, and followed the interdenominational educational concept of the nearby chateau school.
The Muzeum starého Kunewaldu comprises two rooms presenting the history of the municipality of Kunín. It displays original documents, interesting finds from the municipality’s territory, as well as traditional costumes donated by German residents expelled after the Second World War. It also includes objects connected with Skoronice and the Kunín parish.
The Natural History Cabinet houses a newly arranged mineralogical and palaeontological exhibition compiled by Bronislav Novosad from Kunín for the restored chateau.
Cycling
The 40-kilometre Okolo Poodří cycle path passes, among other places, by Kunín Chateau or includes it as a point of interest. The cycle path runs predominantly on paved cycle paths with no or only light motor traffic.
The Jantarová stezka cycle route passes through Kunín.
Walking
The Novojičínská kopretina educational trail can be followed from the railway station in Nový Jičín towards Kunín.
In the Village
The “Kunín, zdravotní středisko” bus stop is located directly in front of the entrance to Sedlákův trh. Sedlákův trh has a small café where you can enjoy coffee and something sweet after shopping.
Events
The municipality of Kunín announced the traditional Otevírání Poodří event for Saturday, 16 May 2026, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; the event symbolically opens the region’s tourism season every year.
