Bítov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The central Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk in Bítov was built before 1880. A new Stations of the Cross leads to it; Mass is celebrated in the chapel once a month.

Culture and History

A settlement fortress was located in the cadastral area of Bítov. Based on the place name Hradisko, it is assumed that it stood between the village and the former Bítov Mill; however, its exact location has not yet been determined.

Routes and Connections

The more demanding, partly difficult cycle route 6192 passes through Bítov and connects Bílovec with a leisure complex on the Porubka. The Bílovecká padesátka hiking route follows the yellow-marked trail from the chapel below Bítov through Bítov to the Sezina Valley.

Regional bus route 884692 runs via Bílovec, Bítov, Těškovice and Slatina and returns to Bílovec.

Forests and Bodies of Water

The forests surrounding Bítov on almost all sides offer good conditions for mushroom picking and gathering wild fruit.

At the Bítovský mlýn site and directly below it lies a partially waterlogged, lushly vegetated area that functions as a local biocentre or biocorridor. In Vesník, the so-called I. Pond forms the second pond in a cascade of four ponds.

Local Traditions

Rybí hody is held as a recurring local festival in Vesník near Bítov. Frying eggs, locally called “snožky”, is a tradition in Bítov passed down by parents and grandparents.
