Řeka is a mountain village situated in deep valleys beneath the forested ridges of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids. A considerable part of the Řeka municipality lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area.

Trails and Landscape

The NS Stezka pokladů Godula educational trail begins in Řeka, is 4.7 kilometres long, and is classified as a moderately difficult hiking route. The educational trail focuses on the stone treasure, the forest treasure, and the bird treasure, as well as the treasure of the bandit Ondráš and the treasure of faith. During the summer months, Řeka is suitable for hikes through the quiet part of the Beskids. Frequent trips lead from Řeka towards the Slavíč mountain chalet.

Landscape and Geology

The Godula quarry is located on the northern edge of Řeka along the main road, at the eastern foot of the 738-metre-high Godula mountain. It is registered as a geologically interesting site and lies within the Beskydy Protected Landscape Area. The Godula quarry exposes the middle section of the Godula Formation and appears to be the most suitable type locality for this formation.

Culture and History

Two traditional wooden houses in Řeka are protected monuments. The year 1644 is regarded as the celebrated founding year of Řeka; the village of Řeka was formed by separating from Smilovice and the estate.
