Stvolínky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Stvolínky brings historical traces, distinctive landscape features and paths into close proximity. The oldest historically documented written reference to the village dates from 1197. A Gothic fortress was built on the site of the former manor, giving rise to a complex history of the castle.

History and Architectural Heritage

Stvolínky Castle was rebuilt in the Renaissance style between 1520 and 1538. The Renaissance structure, which was severely damaged during the Thirty Years’ War, was subsequently converted into an early Baroque castle between 1655 and 1663. During the ongoing restoration work, the castle was open to the public for various cultural events.

Kostel Všech Svatých also dates far back: the church is mentioned in the 14th century and is considered one of the oldest churches in Bohemia. Its basement contains a crypt holding the remains of some former owners of the estate.

Water, Rocks and Ronov

Koňský rybník is a 9-hectare flowing-through pond used for fishing. Near Stvolínky, the Smrtka viewpoint is located on a sandstone rock formation above the pond. The name Smrtka is associated with an old spring custom in which a figure of Death was thrown into the water.

Ronov features remnants of a preserved scree forest and extensive fields of rocks. In places, these slopes and the summit are almost devoid of vegetation.

Paths and Getting Around

A red-marked hiking trail runs about 150 metres from Stvolínky Castle and passes by Kostel Všech Svatých. A branch also leads to the Smrtka viewpoint from the red-marked trail between Stvolínky and Holany. Ronov can also be reached on foot from Stvolínky.

For travel to the area, Stvolínky railway station is integrated into the public transport system. It is located on line 087 between Litoměřice horní nádraží and Česká Lípa. The Stvolínky station building is wheelchair accessible.
