Dubnice Pod Ralskem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Dubnice Pod Ralskem stands the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, a Marian pilgrimage site with a late-Gothic wooden statue of the Madonna from the 15th century on the high altar.

Culture and History

The grounds of this church include the cemetery, the surrounding wall with gates, the mortuary, the former fire station and a stone cross. The church was built between 1699 and 1702; it has been protected as a cultural monument since 1965. The churchyard also includes a chapel and 13 Stations of the Cross.

Next to the cemetery entrance stands a group of statues depicting Saint John of Nepomuk. It is a separate protected monument.

In the lower part of Dubnice stands the stone Niesigova Chapel. In a parish inventory from 1895, it is referred to as the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, built in 1738. The same parish inventory also mentions the stone Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows; it was somewhat damaged and renovated in 1792. The stone cross by the church dates from 1795, was restored and re-erected next to the monument to the fallen below the church.

History

After the First World War, Dubnice developed a tourism focus in connection with the nearby resort of Hamr na Jezeře. Summer visitors took advantage of the milk cures and the services offered by the resort.

Cycling

The official CV12 Hamr na Jezeře – northern loop cycling route leads from Žibřidice to Dubnice. From Dubnice, the return journey to Hamr na Jezeře can be shortened.

Nature

The Stříbrník natural monument is a basalt hill with columnar jointing of the rock and lies approximately 2.5 km east of Dubnice.
