Stružnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Stružnická Peřej takes place every year as a traditional whitewater slalom race at the rapids by the mill on the Ploučnice River. The course combines calm water with rapids rated WW 1–2 in difficulty.

History

Stružnice was first mentioned in written sources in 1281, in the epithet of the nobleman Záviš of Stružnice. Historically, Stružnice had three estates along the Ploučnice, known as the Upper, Middle and Lower Estate.

Nature

The Stružnické rybníky are a Natura 2000 site consisting of shallow ponds heavily overgrown with aquatic plants. The Dolní Ploučnice protected area extends across Stružnice and Jezvé and serves to protect the fire-bellied toad. The area contains fragments of floodplain forests, including riparian and ash-alder floodplain forests as well as wet alder forests.

The Stružnické rybníky also include wetland and aquatic biotopes that are home primarily to a population of fire-bellied toads (Bombina bombina). Stružnice’s natural features also include Lípa u Stružnice, a protected individual tree that was first designated on 9 December 2011.

Historical Traces

Distinctive terrain remnants and two Gothic cellars remain from the former water castle of Stružnice. The former water castle lies completely outside marked hiking trails.

Cycling Route, Railway and Surroundings

Cycling Route No. 211 runs through Stružnice. The railway line from Benešov nad Ploučnicí to Česká Lípa also passes through Stružnice. Stružnice is a suitable starting point for exploring the natural and cultural highlights of northern Bohemia.
