Sloup v Čechách: Holiday apartments and houses

Sloup Castle is a rock fortress from the 13th century, built on a sandstone pillar. Visitors need to be physically fit, as they must climb steep stairs carved into the rock. There is a paid car park at the castle, and a bus stop is 400 m away.

Culture and history

Historical sites away from the castle also demonstrate the special connection between culture and the rocky landscape. At the Lesní divadlo, passageways were carved into the sandstone. Glasses and telescopes were made in the Samuelova jeskyně.

Trails and landscape

The Sloupský vyhlídkový okruh is approximately 4 km long, marked with information boards and equipped with benches. Along the route are the Emanuela-Maxa viewpoint, the Count’s viewpoint, the Castle viewpoint and the Maximilian viewpoint.

The Naučná a interaktivní stezka ve Sloupu v Čechách is 2 km long and has five stations. It is aimed primarily at parents with small children. It includes the wooden pavilion “Vodní chrám”, with a renovated forest spring, where visitors can rest and relax.

Na Stráži is a rocky spur 354 m high that drops steeply into the valley of the Dobranovský potok and lies approximately 0.5 km south of Sloup. The Cikánské údolí s jeskyněmi route follows a footpath along the Dobranovský potok, crosses several footbridges into the Cikánské údolí and offers unusual views of Sloup Castle.

The Cikánské údolí s jeskyněmi circular trail was opened in 2005 and begins on Pod Stráží Street.
