Prachen: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Prachen combines the basalt landscape around Panská skála with short and longer trails, historic buildings, and insights into glassmaking. Near Kamenický Šenov, by Prácheň, Panská skála is a national natural monument. The 597 m-high basalt hill is located in Zone II of the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area and consists of slender four- to six-sided basalt columns, some of which reach heights of up to 15 m. Below Panská skála lies a small pond in a former quarry, fed by rainwater.

Nature

At the edge of Prácheň lies Vyhlídka, a basalt hill. Another basalt formation is Česká skála in the České středohoří Protected Landscape Area. The landscape between these striking points can be explored along designated trails without the different forms and geographical relationships blending into one another.

Trails

The 3 km trail to the Prácheň viewpoint begins and ends at the car park by Panská skála and leads through Prácheň to the Church of St. Lawrence. A 3.5 km hiking route leads to Česká skála, running along the edge of Prácheň and reaching Česká skála. From the Česká skála route, the view extends as far as Nový Bor and Česká Lípa.

The 10 km circular trail “In the Footsteps of the Railway” also begins and ends at the car park by Panská skála and leads back to Prácheň.

Culture

The Church of St. Lawrence in Prácheň dates from the 18th century. Its construction began in 1771, and the bell tower was completed in 1853. Prácheň was formerly a glassmaking village and is now part of Kamenický Šenov, along with its beautiful timber-framed houses.

From spring to autumn, you can take a museum train on the private railway from Kamenický Šenov to Česká Kamenice and back. Bystro Design is a creative studio founded in 2005 that focuses on automotive glass and product design. By prior arrangement, visitors can try glass grinding there, design their own piece of jewelry, or create a unique relief from fused glass. A visit to Bystro Design offers insights into modern glassmaking.
