Podmoklice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Podmoklice is home to the Sbor Dr. Karla Farského. The building was completed and opened on September 18, 1938; on September 20, 2016, it was declared a cultural monument. The Sbor is accessible by train, bus, and private vehicles.

Culture

Guided tours with commentary through the FABRIKA 1861 complex introduce visitors to its industrial architecture from the 19th and 20th centuries. They also include areas that were previously closed to the public, including production halls, offices, and the Ludmila clock tower.

The history of the site also includes the historic riveted footbridge Lávka Amálka and the clock in the Ludmila tower. The bridge has been renovated and is now back in operation within the FABRIKA 1861 complex. The clock in the Ludmila tower was put back into operation on July 31, 2021, at 7:01 p.m.

The “U Zlatého kola” Bicycle Museum presents the development of bicycles across different periods, as well as technology, movement, and the craft tradition of cycling.

History

In the archaeological site of Podmoklice, a village stood on the site of the Kapla ZSO manor farm, which was destroyed during the Thirty Years’ War. A later line of development was marked by the Pardubice–Liberec railway line: it was built from 1856 to 1858, along with Semily railway station. The subsequent industrial boom helped Semily and Podmoklice grow significantly.

Nature and Activities

In the surroundings of the host municipality, the Riegrova Trail passes through the Galerie natural monument and the Údolí Jizery a Bítouchova nature reserve. The trail features a 77-meter-long suspended gallery offering views of the Jizera.
