Stružinec: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Stružinec lies in the valley of the Žlábek stream. The valley is surrounded by the hills of Hůrka and Stránsko, as well as the Mákové vrchy to the northwest. The marked KČT cycling route no. 4174 also passes through the village, leading from Lomnice nad Popelkou via Stružinec, Košťálov, Benešov u Semil and Jablonec nad Jizerou.

Nature and Trails

The area around Stružinec offers ideal conditions for cycling, running and hiking, as well as cross-country skiing when snow conditions are good. Near Bezděčín, the red-marked Zlatá stezka Českého ráje hiking trail runs through the area. Hůrka offers views across a large part of Český ráj.

Culture

In the lower part of Stružinec, a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on a small rise on the left-hand side of the road towards Lomnice nad Popelkou–Košťálov. It is carved from porphyritic red sandstone.

Another significant monument is the stone sculptural group depicting the Coronation of the Virgin Mary, created in the Neo-Gothic style in 1855. It depicts the seated Virgin Mary being crowned by God the Father and Jesus Christ; above them, the Holy Spirit hovers in the form of a dove. The sculptural group is considered one of the highest-quality monuments of its kind in the Semily area.

History and Tradition

The present-day bell tower in Stružinec was built from red sandstone in 1843. In 2022, a bell was returned to the bell tower with the help of a public collection and donations from local residents.

Popular destinations for visitors in Stružinec include the well-maintained surroundings of the pond, the park near the primary school, the football pitch, the tennis courts and a children’s playground. The Masopust carnival procession is also a popular event held in Stružinec.
