Vichova Nad Jizerou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Landscape Between the Jizera and Krkonoše Mountains
Víchová nad Jizerou stretches uphill from the Jizera Valley along the slopes and offers views of the panorama of the western Krkonoše Mountains. Parts of the locality lie in the third zone, while others are in the protected zone of KRNAP. There is a 200-metre difference in elevation between the lower and upper parts of Víchová nad Jizerou.
The natural landscape includes two protected remarkable trees: the Danehlova lípa is one of them, as is the Lípa na Koutě. The area of Víchová nad Jizerou also contains important sites with protected plant species, including the burnt orchid, broad-leaved orchid, Turk’s cap lily and two-leaved gipsywort.
Culture and History
The folk architecture of Víchová nad Jizerou includes the listed farmstead No. 85. The locality also has three freestanding bell towers, one in each of its three districts.
In V Bučí lies the medieval fortification of Hrádek, above the municipal library of Víchová nad Jizerou in the direction of Danehlova lípa. Pottery dates it to the period from the 13th century to the beginning of the 17th century. The heavily damaged complex today includes a partially demolished inner platform; the remains of an artificially constructed moat are still visible.
The academic landscape painter František Kaván is also associated with Víchová nad Jizerou: he was born in Víchovská Lhota, a district of Víchová nad Jizerou.
Trails and Landscape Experiences
The Víchovská Trail is marked red, yellow and blue, is 11 km long and runs along broad paths; it is also suitable for cyclists. Along the trail is “Overgrown Places of Kaván’s Paintings”, a permanent landscape gallery with twelve reproductions of Kaván’s works in wooden frames.
The Víchovská Trail can be divided into two sections, and public transport can be used for this purpose. In hot weather, the Jizera at its confluence with the Jizerka in Horní Sytová is recommended as a place to cool off.
Other places on the same level: Slana, Roprachtice, Hruba Skala, Roztoky U Semil, Kruh, Horní Dusnice, Mricna, Klokočí U Turnova.
