Vrchovnice: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vrchovnice combines a contemporary connection to hipporehabilitation with a local history reaching back to the Middle Ages and the events of 1866. Jezdecký klub Letýcia is a registered hipporehabilitation centre and has been based in the municipality of Vrchovnice since 2026.

Jezdecký klub Letýcia offers the basics of riding as well as groundwork, natural communication with horses and animal care. The association also accepts new members for hipporehabilitation.

History

The first written mention of Vrchovnice dates from 1355. Archaeological finds from Vrchovnice and its surroundings point to settlement during the Stroke-ornamented Pottery culture.

In the wider microregional context of the 1866 battlefield, there are information boards about the events of the war; educational trails run through several member municipalities. On 3 July 1866, Prussian artillery was stationed near Vrchovnice and shelled Austrian positions near Hořiněves. The stone cross in front of house number 24 was erected in 1882 and restored in 1932. A sandstone monument with a cast-iron cross commemorates an Austrian and a Prussian soldier who fell in 1866.
