History and culture
A state-protected avenue of lime trees surrounds Kosice’s central village square. The village square also features a memorial to the victims of the wars.
The round grounds of a former wooden water fortress have been preserved on the property of House No. 24. Kosice also has a stone cross dating from the 19th century. Kosice cemetery chapel was renovated in 2008; the new bell of Kosice cemetery chapel was consecrated on 23 October 2010.
The Vrzáňovy Kosice brass band festival took place for its 13th edition on Saturday, 16 July 2022, from 1 p.m.
Landscape
At the southern edge of Kosice, the Bystřice flows through an old riverbed; 200 m further downstream, a new riverbed runs.
The Rozhledna Kosice is located at the end of a relatively large private but publicly accessible park with two ponds. The wooden Rozhledna Kosice was built in 2017 on a hill created by dredging the local ponds.
Traditions
Kosice traditionally holds a New Year’s Eve walk to Luhy. Mulled wine and tea are available; participants are offered light refreshments at the forester’s lodge.
Getting around
Kosice is served by public bus transport; there is a bus stop for both directions of travel.
