History

The church in Velký Třebešov is first mentioned in 1355 and was already a parish church at that time. Gothic window surrounds have been preserved in the church's presbytery and sacristy. The Church of St. Stephen contains a stone baptismal font from the 15th century. The Velký Třebešov fortress was built around the middle of the 16th century.

Culture

At an intersection next to the “U Pitašů” restaurant stands a sandstone group depicting the Holy Trinity. It was created in 1816 by the Hořice sculptor J. Vašata and is freely accessible.

Activities

The 34-km cycling route “cyklo 34 km” passes through Velký Třebešov. The sports complex near the “U Vagonu” pub includes tennis courts, facilities for nohejbal and volleyball, as well as a children's playground. A time slot can be reserved for use of the tennis courts; the reservation and payment must be made at least 24 hours in advance, otherwise opening the court is not guaranteed.

Events and surroundings

Velkotřebešovské kolečko is a local sporting event; the 29th edition is documented for 2025 and the 30th edition for 2026. The municipality describes the traditional Třebešovské posvícení as a festival with competitions, music and an extensive festive menu.

Česká Skalice, which is described as the birthplace of Božena Němcová, is located approximately two kilometres from Velký Třebešov.
