Nature and Landscape

The hilly terrain of Pěkov lies between approximately 500 and 694 metres above sea level. Ostaš, Špičák and Supí Hnízdo are mountains in the vicinity of Pěkov. Velká kupa is a mountain in the area around Pěkov. Ostaš is also an isolated table mountain in the vicinity of Police nad Metují, offering far-reaching views and distinctive rock formations.

Paths and Routes

Pěkov-Hony is a starting point for hiking trails in the Broumov Walls. The “Na Hvězdu a Ostaš” hiking route also passes through Pěkov to the junction below Ostaš. For cyclists, cycling route KČT 4001 is described: it is a 30-kilometre circular route called the “Vyhlídková cesta”, which leads back to Pasa (Pěkov).

History and Culture

The Chapel of Our Lady of Help is located in Pěkov. Since January 2001, it has been protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. The first written reference to Pěkov dates from 1395. The village was probably founded around 1256 during the colonisation of the so-called polický újezd.
