Rychnovek: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

A notable natural feature of Rychnovek is the Stará Metuje: it is a protected natural monument in the cadastral area of the municipality.

Nature and landscape

More than ten dragonfly species live in the old riverbed of the Stará Metuje. The Úpa flows north of Rychnovek. In addition, Zvolská stráň in Rychnovek is designated as a significant registered landscape feature.

History, churches and small monuments

The first documented mention of Rychnovek dates back to 1497. In Zvole, a district of Rychnovek, the Church of Saint Justus stands on the site of a former feudal fortress. A catalpa protected as a natural monument stands in the square in front of the church. Rychnovek railway stop is approximately 500 metres from the Church of Saint Justus.

Further historical evidence is scattered throughout the municipality: in Malá Strana in Rychnovek stands a Baroque stone cross with a small bell tower, while near Na Vokolku there is a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary. In Zvole, a monument erected in 1926 commemorates the soldiers who fell in the First World War. There is also a stone cross dating from 1861 depicting the suffering Redeemer.

Historic routes and cycle connections

The historic Kladská stezka connected Bohemia and Silesia. It ran from Jaroměř via Zvole and Doubravice between the Úpa and today’s railway line. The Kladská stezka project includes a connection from Jaroměř to Rychnovek with a link to the Labská stezka. The first construction stage of the cycle path to Jaroměř was fully completed and successfully approved on 13 February.

Sports and rail transport

The SK Rychnovek sports complex is open mainly during the summer months to residents and visitors to the municipality. It has three clay tennis courts and a multi-purpose court for volleyball and nohejbal. All sports facilities of SK Rychnovek can be reserved. Seating and refreshment options are also available there during a cycle tour.

Rychnovek railway station is located on the Jaroměř–Trutnov line and is the first stop from Jaroměř. Rychnovek railway stop is located in the centre of the municipality.
