Culture and History

The Church of St. Nicholas in Bohuslavice is a protected cultural monument; this protection has been in place since 3 May 1958. Its history probably dates back to after 1200, when it was founded. In 1687, the church was completely rebuilt.

The Evangelical Church in Bohuslavice is a Neo-Gothic building dating from 1898. It was completed and furnished, including its interior and organ, by the end of 1899. The Old Evangelical School was opened in 1873 as a one-class school. The large bell tower in Bohuslavice was built in 1605.

Ponds and Nature Conservation

The Bohuslavický Stream flows through Bohuslavice, with a cascade of ponds along its course. Their creation dates back to the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries; carp were formerly bred in the pond cascade. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1757 stands on an island in Věžiště Pond.

The Zbytka Nature Reserve lies in the cadastral area of Bohuslavice nad Metují. It comprises floodplain forests and waterlogged meadows with several hundred highly endangered plant species.

Transport and Cycling Route

Bohuslavice n. Metují railway station is located on line 026, with connections between Choceň and Náchod as well as Opočno pod Orlickými horami and Dobruška. The station is part of the integrated IREDO transport system.

The Dobruška–Bohuslavice nad Metují–Slavětín cycling route is approximately 25 km long, not very demanding and suitable for family outings and senior citizens.
