Hlavňov is located directly below the Broumovské stěny.

Nature and landscape

The Broumovské stěny have been a National Nature Reserve since 1956. The mountains Supí Hnízdo, Ostaš, Špičák and Velká kupa are located in the immediate vicinity of Hlavňov.

Hiking and cycling

Hlavňov is considered an important starting point for trips in the Broumovsko region. Marked red or blue hiking trails to Hvězda can begin in Hlavňov; the elevation gain is approximately 300 metres. The Vyhlídková cesta cycling tour also follows the red-marked cycle route No. 4000 from Police nad Metují via Suchý Důl and Hlavňov to Honské sedlo (Pasa).

In June 2026, construction began at the Hvězda car park on a visitor shelter with toilet facilities for visitors to the Broumovské stěny, especially the Hvězda area; the construction plots are located in the cadastral area of Hlavňov.

History and places of interest

There used to be a residential house at Žitavec, where Jiří–Vostrý Žitavec lived until 1729; he is known from Jirásek's novel Temno. Chata Hvězda was built in 1855 and served as an inn and forester's accommodation. On Hvězda, the Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows was designed by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer in 1732–1733.

Hospůdka Na hrázi is located on a tourist route to the Broumovské skály between two ponds and has a sunny terrace overlooking the pond. The Zamek Ścinawka Górna - Renesansowy dwór castle is located in the vicinity of Hlavňov. In the wider region are Zamek Rogowiec Castle, Grodno Zagórze śl - Zamek muzeum Castle and the Muchołapka monument.
