Culture and History

The Obědovice fortified site is designated as a significant archaeological site in category ÚAN I, dating from the Middle Ages to the early modern period. The site is approximately oval, measures 23 × 19 metres, and is surrounded by a body of water measuring approximately 106 × 75 metres.

The upper surface of the fortified site lies about 4 metres above the water level. It features a Classicist statue of Svatý Vavřinec, a sandstone memorial to those who fell in the First and Second World Wars, and a masonry bell tower. From the surrounding terrain, the fortified site can be reached via a 14-metre-long strip of land; on its eastern side, sandstone steps set into the eastern slope lead up to it.

A gradually shrinking fortified mound from the former swamp fortress has survived in the middle of a pond. The second historic fortress disappeared without a trace. The local theatre tradition has also continued: since its revival in 2004, the local theatre ensemble has remained active.

Landscape and Recreation

Obědovice lies in a fertile, flat landscape. Two former sand-mining sites in Obědovice are used for recreation. Cycle Route No. 4199 also passes through the village.

Geographical Location

In the wider regional surroundings of Obědovice are Kamenec mountain, the Church of Svatý Jiří, and Zámek Kačina castle. Soudný Hill [Chýšť] lies in the vicinity of Obědovice. The surrounding area also includes Kozí hora Hill [Klamoš] and (Velký les) Hill.
