Nepolisy: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Nepolisy has an unusually large medieval village square with a rectangular layout.

History

The earliest evidence of settlement in the area around Nepolisy dates from the 1st to the 4th century AD. The first surviving written reference to Nepolisy dates from 1299; at that time, the village was called Lepolisy.

The fortress in Nepolisy at that time was uninhabited in 1513 and subsequently gradually fell into disrepair. Archaeological finds discovered in 1904 in a field behind the local cemetery in Nepolisy are kept in the museum in Nový Bydžov.

Culture

The Roman Catholic Church of St. Mary Magdalene is a highly visible landmark of Nepolisy and was reconstructed in 1998. Numerous lime trees and horse chestnut trees bloom on the village square in May and June.

The private Vila Černých is the birthplace of the Minister of the Interior of the First Czechoslovak Republic, JUDr. Josef Černý. The original exterior appearance was preserved during the reconstruction of Vila Černých.

Further local monuments stand at prominent locations: Boží kříž is located in the park by the church in Nepolisy, the statue of St. John of Nepomuk stands by the lower pond, and the statue of Panny Marie Boží stands by the middle pond.

Things to do

A marked cycle path runs through Nepolisy, connecting Chlumec nad Cidlinou with Nový Bydžov. In addition, the 25th edition of the cycling event “Nepoliská stovka” took place on 15 August 2020, while the 6th edition of the running competition “Nepoliská pětka” included a 5.2 km main course.
