Nature and Wildlife

During the day, knowledgeable talks about the respective animals take place at selected enclosures at Safari Park Dvůr Králové. This combines observing the animals with explanations about the individual species.

Trails, Water and Leisure

The circular route of the Údolím Hartského potoka educational trail begins at the gate of the municipal hospital and is just under 2 kilometres long. Along the educational trail, there are information boards, several play features, a jumping pit and seating by a fire pit.

Tyršovo koupaliště has a separate paddling pool, a leisure pool and a swimming pool. On the water, Jedu Labe offers a 10-kilometre, three-hour rafting and canoeing tour from Dvůr Králové nad Labem to Kuks, which is suitable for beginners.

Culture and History

The Gothic Kostel sv. Jana Křtitele church was built on the site of an earlier Romanesque church and acquired its present form in the 1890s. Kostel sv. Anny church houses an organ made in 1829 by Johann Antonín Barth from Dolní Olešnice, considered the last surviving organ by this maker that is still suitable for concert performances.

The 1.7-kilometre Městský památkový okruh route leads to historically significant sites, including the Davidova hvězda memorial and preserved remains of the town fortifications in Valová ulička.

Galerie minerálů displays more than 6,000 minerals and gemstones from the Czech Republic and around the world. It also includes fossil exhibitions featuring complete skeletons of a mosasaur and a plesiosaur.

The synagogue in Dvůr Králové nad Labem was demolished in 1966; the town’s Jewish inhabitants were murdered by the Nazis.

Botanical Sites

The park in Areál sv. Josefa is open to everyone year-round. Coniferous and deciduous trees originating from Asia, North America and South America grow there, and the park invites visitors to take a walk through the grounds.

Mint, sage, goldenrod and hundreds of other herbs grow in Bylinkárium. Via botanica connects eleven botanically exceptional sites.

Beer and Cycling History

Following prior arrangement, Královédvorský pivovar Tambor brewery offers guided tours of the brewery, during which the entire beer-making process is explained. Expozice historie cyklistiky in Žireč displays historic bicycles from the First Republic, as well as wartime and racing bicycles. Visitors can try a penny-farthing trainer or hire a rickshaw for a ride through the park.
