In Úpice, the view stretches from the night sky to the city’s history. The observatory offers guided observations of the night sky; it is also notable for making it possible to observe the sun during the day. It is situated in natural surroundings on a hill above the city.

Educational Trail and Circular Routes

The Stezka Úpice comprises 27 stations, or information boards, at significant buildings in Úpice, each with QR codes, as well as two large information boards with QR codes. It has two circular routes: a short historical circular route and a longer tourist circular route.

The longer tourist circular route is approximately 8 km long and can be ridden by mountain bike along its entire length. Cycle Route 4 runs through Úpice along the city’s historical educational trail.

Culture and History

Dřevěnka is the oldest building in Úpice; the first surviving record dates from 1559. Dřevěnka is also a national cultural monument. The building houses a lively immersive exhibition in the style of an open-air museum about life in a small town during the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
