Chvaleč: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Chvaleč lies at the northern edge of the Rtyně–Svatoňovice Basin, in the immediate vicinity of the Czech–Polish border. The area around the town features a border landscape, historical traces and educational trails.

Location and Landscape

The Czech–Polish border runs across the 697-metre-high Janský vrch, which is crossed by an educational trail. Beneath this mountain lies a spring with drinkable mineral water. Thanks to its beneficial effects, the water was already known during the time of Austria-Hungary; due to careful construction work, it has preserved its unique composition to this day.

The Chvaleč–Petříkovice educational trail is a circular route approximately 6 km long and begins at the car park by the swimming pool in Petříkovice. It passes the spring beneath the rocks and continues to the Krausova vyhlídka viewpoint. Its stops describe local attractions as well as the local fauna and flora. A remarkable rock forms the so-called Krausova vyhlídka.

Culture and History

Chvaleč is home to the Church of Saint James the Greater, which is a protected cultural monument dating from 1706. A line of historic fortifications dating from 1937 to 1938 also runs through Petříkovice. Several of these structures are gradually being renovated as open-air museums.

The local ecclesiastical history is also visible in Petříkovice: between 2002 and 2008, a reconstructed replica of the original chapel was built there.

Water and Winter

The swimming pool complex in Chvaleč is located in a quiet part of the municipality towards Adršpach and is open from May to the end of September. The swimming pool in Petříkovice is located in the central part of the town. Its swimming pool complex includes a fire-water reservoir suitable for swimming, toilets, an outdoor shower, refreshments and a car park. Swimming is at your own risk.

At the Petříkovice ski area, a ski school and a small lift for children and complete beginners operate daily. In addition, the ski area offers well-groomed slopes and family-friendly skiing.
