Svoboda Nad Upou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Svoboda nad Úpou combines nature experiences, regional history and seasonal activities within a compact area. Between the educational trail, winter sports, events and special excursion destinations, the town offers a diverse range of experiences.

Nature

The Via Piette is a 9-kilometre educational trail with a walking time of approximately three hours and 291 metres of elevation gain. At the same time, it is a walking route in the surroundings of Svoboda nad Úpou that connects cultural monuments, technical sights and a stretch of natural landscape along the Černohorský potok stream. The Via Piette is suitable for hiking and, in dry weather, also for mountain biking.

The route also includes the Sklenářovické údolí nature monument. The complex of meadows and wetlands there is characterised by an exceptionally well-preserved mosaic of vegetation as well as protected plant and animal species.

Winter and Events

Svoboda nad Úpou is one of the five interconnected areas of SkiResort ČERNÁ HORA - PEC, which offers more than 50 kilometres of ski slopes with one ski pass.

The Rudolfovy slavnosti are held regularly in autumn in Svoboda nad Úpou. They include demonstrations of gold mining and gold panning.

History and Railway

In the second half of the 19th century, the paper mills of Svoboda nad Úpou produced and exported the first cigarette paper in Central Europe.

The regional railway line from Trutnov to Svoboda nad Úpou ends at the Svoboda nad Úpou stop. Tourism in Svoboda nad Úpou began to develop as early as the beginning of the 20th century thanks to the railway line that had been built.

Experiences

At Farmapark Muchomůrka, visitors can observe, feed and pet freely roaming animals at close range. The park also offers nature-oriented play elements, a castle made of straw bales, swings, Indian tennis, croquet and a fire pit for making stick bread or barbecuing.
