Slemeno: Holiday apartments and holiday homes
Slemeno lies in the valley along the upper reaches of the Kalenský potok and forms part of the contiguous built-up area of the municipality of Dolní Kalná. The 47-kilometre route “Circuit from Kalná via Kateřina”, intended for experienced cyclists, passes through the village.
Cycling routes and landscape
The marked cycling route 4302 runs via Horní Olešnice to Slemeno. The “Stará zemská stezka” route offers views of the panorama of the Krkonoše Mountains, in which Černá hora, located near Slemeno, stands out as a distinctive mountain; in places, Sněžka can also be seen.
Cycling route 4294 leads from the starting point of the cycling routes in Dolní Kalná to Hostinné. After reaching the centre of Dolní Kalná, it runs along the cemetery wall and then continues through the forest to the swimming pool.
After rain, the local stream becomes cloudy due to the red clay typical of the area.
Culture and remembrance
Slemeno is home to a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk with reliefs on its pedestal. There is also a memorial to the victims of the First World War, depicting a woman looking into the distance.
At a wayside shrine in Slemeno, the niche is empty; the engraved year 1770 has been preserved.
