Culture and History
The Baroque Church of St. Peter and Paul is a landmark of Malá Úpa and was built in 1788–1789. From Pomezní Boudy, it can be reached via yellow- or red-marked hiking trails and is a destination for many pilgrims.
The Maloúpský jarmark takes place in the vicinity of the Church of St. Peter and Paul in Malá Úpa. It is a traditional event celebrating old Giant Mountains traditions. The Závod rohaček – Memoriál Josefa Tylše is another traditional event held in the U Kostela area.
The Disidentská stezka has six named stops; U kostela is one of them. The trail commemorates four decades of meetings between Czech and Polish dissidents in the Giant Mountains (1978–2018).
Trails and Landscape
The Pohádková stezka is a walking trail through Malá Úpa with ten stops and a permanent exhibition of Giant Mountains fairy tales by writer Marie Kubátová. It combines wooden fairy-tale panels with a climbing and play facility for children.
The Lví důl cross-country skiing route is 10.7 km long and starts in Spálený Mlýn or Smrčí. From Spálený Mlýn, it follows the Jelení potok stream to the foot of Sněžka.
Emmina stezka leads from Spálený Mlýn in the lower part of Malá Úpa and is also used today as a cycle path. Within Krkonoše National Park, the Malá Úpa can be navigated by non-motorized watercraft from Spálený Mlýn to the confluence of the Jelení potok and the Úpa.
