Zdobín: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zdobín is characterized by dense pine forests rich in forest berries. They cover most of the municipality and almost completely surround the built-up area. A cycle path also passes through Zdobín.

Nature and Trails

The Zdobínský potok stream rises in Zdobín. The Baliharka spring, one of the five sources of the Bystřice River, is located in a nearby meadow. The Sbírková zahrada Zdobín, with its diverse collection of trees, shrubs and perennials, is also part of the area's green landscape. The garden is open year-round and classified as a certified natural garden.

Ontário, a sandstone bouldering area, is located near Zdobín. It can be reached from Zdobín: you can park at the U Tučků inn and then walk approximately 0.5 km along a path into the forest. Ontário can also be reached from Miletínské lázně via tourist trail 04 in the direction of Zdobín.

History and Crafts

The history of the village dates back to 1261, when Zdobín belonged to the property of the Teutonic Order. According to an entry from 1657, the village was burned to the ground during the Thirty Years' War. In the 19th century, cottage weaving was widespread in Zdobín; Kalmuk fabric was woven there.

A special craft tradition was pearl making. The Vienna-trained pearl maker Josef Kynčl began making pearls in Zdobín in 1862. Around 1900, pearl production reached its greatest flourishing, and pearls were blown in every house. In 1931, the production of glass Christmas ornaments replaced the previously declining pearl industry.

Fair and Regional Traditions

The traditional folk crafts fair in Zdobín was held for the 20th time in 2026. Demonstrations of traditional crafts are presented at the fair. Suckling pigs, sausages and other dishes, as well as beer, are also offered.
