Černčice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Černčice, distinctive traces of buildings and terrain meet archaeological evidence from very early periods. The town lies in the foothills of the Orlické hory at an elevation of around 300 metres above sea level.

Culture and History

The Church of St. James is located in the western part of Černčice and was built in the Gothic style. Inside, there is a pewter baptismal font on a tripod dating from 1585. The church cemetery, which is completely enclosed, can be accessed via the open space in front of the Černčická věž.

The Černčická věž was built in 1613 in the Renaissance style. It is 25 metres high and has five above-ground storeys; it also features a newly constructed viewing walkway.

North of the church, on elevated ground, lie the overgrown remains of the former Černčická tvrz. The site of the former Černčická tvrz and its surroundings are protected as a cultural monument. The first written mention of the Černčická tvrz dates from 1405.

Archaeological Traces

The town’s prehistory is also exceptionally well documented: surface surveys in Černčice uncovered more than 70 artefacts attributed to the Gravettian. This makes the assemblage the largest Gravettian-attributed complex in eastern Bohemia. In addition, the presence of the earliest farmers in the Neolithic (New Stone Age) is documented in Černčice for the period from 5500 to 4200 BC.
