Zlenice: Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zlenice Castle stands on a promontory at the confluence of the Mnichovka stream and the Sázava River. Its most prominent surviving part is the large Hláska tower; the castle was first mentioned in writing in 1318.

Castle and History

The annual “Oživlý středověk” festival takes place on the grounds of the Zlenice castle ruins. It is a benefit festival showcasing medieval crafts from the time of Charles IV. At the festival, visitors can sample flatbreads for which they first grind the flour in a grain mill. At the same time, “Oživlý středověk” supports the conservation of the Zlenice castle ruins.

Water and Landscape

The “HLÁSKA” ferry crosses an approximately 65 m wide stretch between Senohrabská plovárna and Zlenice. The Posázavský Pacifik railway runs through an attractive landscape along the Sázava, serves the Zlenice stop on the route between Čerčany and Světlá nad Sázavou, and takes visitors to sights and museums.

Paths and Connections

An approximately 40 km section of the “Cyrilometodějská stezka” cycle route runs from Sázava via Zlenice and the Hláska tower to Čerčany. The third section of the “Vodnické vycházky” is 4.5 km long and follows the right bank of the Mnichovka to the Sázava. At the end of the “Vodnické vycházky” along the Sázava, visitors can reach Zlenice Castle with the Hláska tower.
