Culture and history

One of Kozmice’s landmarks is the Church of Saint James the Greater, which was first mentioned in the second half of the 14th century. Its bell tower, dating from the mid-14th century, is one of the features of the building registered as a cultural monument under reference number 15702/2-76.

In addition to the church, the protected ensemble of the Church of Saint James the Greater includes the enclosure wall, the rectory No. 31 and the associated plots of land. The grounds of the Church of Saint James in Kozmice are also registered as an archaeological site in category ÚAN I.

Tvrziště Na Valech is located on the edge of Kozmice’s town centre. It preserves significant terrain remains of a medieval fortified site, a seat of the rural lesser nobility dating from the 13th–15th centuries. The site is surrounded by a ditch and partly by a rampart; no visible wall remains are present.

Local life

There is no educational trail for tourists running through the municipality of Kozmice. However, Kozmice has a multi-purpose sports complex with a children’s playground built in 2018 and a pavilion.

Landscape and surroundings

At the southern edge of Kácova Lhota, there is a view of the surrounding landscape. Mount Žebrák is located near Kozmice. The nearby surroundings also include Meduná Hill [Vranovská Lhota], Železnice Hill [Vranov u Čerčan] and Horka Hill [Chocerady-Vestec].

In the wider regional surroundings of Kozmice is Loreta, a church.

The motocross track in Kozmice can be reached from the D1 via exit 34 in the direction of Ostředek and Benešov.
