Culture and History

The rotunda of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Pravonín is a Romanesque building dating from around 1230. The rotunda was built at the request of Louňovice Monastery. Pravonín Castle hosted Richard Wagner, who stayed there in the summer and autumn of 1832; during his stay in Pravonín, he composed the piece “Tóny zvonů”.

At the northern edge of Pravonín there is a Jewish cemetery that is freely accessible. Around fifty gravestones have been preserved there; they date from the first half of the 19th century to 1928.

Nature

The landscape around Pravonín is part of the Blaník Protected Landscape Area. The scientifically valuable “Na Pijavkách” wetland lies on the edge of Pravonín. It is home to populations of specially protected frogs; the common European adder is also found there.

The large rectangular village green in Pravonín is 550 metres long.

Cycle Paths

The annual cycling event “Blanický cyklorytíř” is held with the participation of the municipality of Pravonín. Cycle Route No. 0070 runs from west to east via Lesáky, Křížov and Pravonín and continues to Dobříkovice. Route 0069 runs from Vracovice via Malovidy and Pravonín and continues southwest to Načeradec.
