Hulice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Two particularly distinctive attractions stand side by side in Hulice: the interactive Včelí svět museum, created by converting the former Hulice school, and Vodní dům, which explains the importance of water for nature and people using the example of the European FFH area Želivka and the Švihov Reservoir.

Culture and History

The documented history of Hulice begins with its first mention in written sources dating from 1295. The more recent history of the area includes the settlement of Švihov, which disappeared during the construction of the Želivka waterworks. At Želivka, flooded bridges serve as a unique technical monument commemorating the changes brought about by the waterworks. Vodní dům also displays original medieval wall paintings from the church in Dolní Kralovice, which was submerged.

Water and Nature

The Vodní Atrium at Vodní dům allows visitors to experience water directly: they can operate artificial watercourses with pumps, water mills, weirs and water distributors. The natural history section includes Hadcová skalka at Vodní dům. This is where kuřička hadcová is presented, a plant that grows nowhere else in the world except in the Kraj blanických rytířů.

The indoor and outdoor areas of Vodní dům are wheelchair accessible and accessible with prams; there are also accessible toilets.

Paths and Stations

At Včelí svět, an educational trail leads through the garden and herb garden to eight playful and educational stations. Another educational trail with eleven informative stations is located around Vodní dům. For cyclists, cycle route no. 0004 runs through Hulice, leading from Vlašim via Trhový Štěpánov, Hulice and Nesměřice to Zruč na Sázavou.
