Loket U Dolních Kralovic: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The history of Loket is connected with the colonization of Svatavina Újezd; the village is dated to the year 1352. The name of the village may also have been derived from an earlier road that curved in the shape of an elbow.

History and Local Character

Above Loket stands the “Dolejší” Cross, which was erected in memory of Václav Moravec. A fourth local cross was erected by Jan Turek; a fifth local cross was erected by the Bejček family in honor and praise of God.

The “Spálenkův” Cross was erected in memory of František. It commemorates a man who was run over and killed by a cart drawn by a frightened bull. The names of those who fell in the First World War are inscribed on Loket’s war memorial.

The former Všebořice fortress remained only as a ruin after the Thirty Years’ War. At Farm No. 13, a passage leads through the barn into its courtyard; the shape of the gateway suggests an eighteenth-century building.

Loket is located near the D1 motorway between Prague and Brno. The surroundings of Loket include Ostojovka Hill (Ledeč nad Sázavou-Souboř), Melechov Hill, and the Loreta Church. Křenova hora Hill (Loket-Brzotice) lies in the immediate vicinity of Loket.

The wider regional surroundings of Loket include Želivský Kláštor Monastery, Velký Blaník Hill, the Orlík ruins, and the Svatý Jan Church.

Forests and Water

Walks in the local forests are considered pleasant; it is also possible to gather wild forest fruit there. The almost 25-hectare Němčice Reservoir is used for sport fishing.
