Křečovice is home to the Josef Suk Memorial, located in the house where Josef Suk spent a significant part of his life.

Culture

The Church of Saint Luke is a single-nave building with an irregular floor plan and a massive, eccentrically positioned north tower. It has a Renaissance high altar with a canvas painting created in 1840. Next to a side entrance, a sculpture described as a “pagan god” is set into the exterior plaster.

Along Sukova alej, stones set into the ground bear the carved names of works by Josef Suk. The avenue runs along the northeastern edge of Křečovice, parallel to the road to Strážovice. The film “My Sweet Little Village” is also part of the village’s history: it was filmed in Křečovice in 1984 and 1985.

Visiting

Josef Suk’s birth room is located in the Josef Suk Primary School and Kindergarten in Křečovice and is accessible exclusively via the cemetery. Visits to the birth room must be arranged with the Křečovice municipal office. It is open on the last Sunday in May; a memorial concert for Josef Suk is held in the Church of Saint Luke on that day.
