Libež combines evidence of local history with a protected natural area and the East Bohemian Way, which reaches the village along the Blanice River.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Holy Trinity is part of Libež’s history. It was built and furnished in 1712 by the miller Pavel Pěnkava. Originally, it was made of wood except for the bell tower; during the redevelopment in 1839, it was converted into a masonry chapel. A new Chapel of the Holy Trinity was built at the same site in 2006 and consecrated on 22 October 2006.

The preserved urban structure of the central part of the Libež settlement on the left bank of the Blanice is also considered part of the settlement’s cultural heritage. The Libežský mlýn is recorded in the Berní rule of 1654 as a mill with two wheels and a sawmill.

Nature

The Les u Libeže Nature Monument protects a population of bristly bellflower (Campanula cervicaria) as well as other specially protected plant species.

Cycle Route 101

A route overview of Cycle Route 101 lists Libež at kilometre 9. The route runs from Louňovice pod Blaníkem via Kondrac, Vlašim, Libež and Čejkovice to Český Šternberk. It is easy, although it includes moderately difficult sections in places, uses third-class roads and local roads, and runs over asphalt as well as paved and unpaved surfaces. Cycle Route 101 is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes.
