Xaverov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Xaverov combines a small, tangible local history with a wooded landscape and paths through the area. The chapel on the hill above the village is already noticeable from a distance, distinguished by three mature horse chestnut trees.
Culture and History
Next to the Xaverov cemetery stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. The cemetery itself also contains a cross with a depiction of Christ. The history of the village goes back to the former Choratice glassworks, which operated from 1730 to 1746 on the site where Xaverov was established.
Another historical site is the estate in Xaverov. It was acquired by the Jesuit College of Prague in 1752 and renamed Xaverhof in honour of Saint Francis Xavier.
Paths and Landscape
The wooded northern and southern parts of Xaverov’s administrative area form a valuable natural setting. The landscape in this part of the Benešov Region is suitable for recreation. Mount Blaník is also clearly visible from Xaverov.
A yellow-marked hiking trail runs through the northern part of the area from west to east. The roads from Choratice to Xaverov, as well as the roads within Xaverov, are used by motorised traffic, pedestrians and cyclists.
There is also a cycling route running via Bělokozly to Xaverov and onward to Choratice. Between Xaverov and Choratice, it is possible to turn onto an approximately 16-kilometre circular route along the field paths to the Čestín forester’s lodge and Drahňovice.
Location and Access
Because of its short distance from the Sázava, Xaverov is often considered part of the central Posázaví region. To reach Xaverov from the D1 motorway, take the exit near Ostředek.
