Dunice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Dunice, traces of a long local history meet concrete details of life in the village today. Due to the circular layout of the settlement, it is assumed that a fortified settlement stood on this site in the 10th century. The first written reference to Dunice dates from 1352. In 1835, a mill stood by a stream in the centre of Dunice, and in the 1930s a memorial to those who fell in the First World War was erected in Dunice.

History

Further historical evidence can be found in the chapel and the village’s milling tradition: Dunice has a historic chapel with an electric bell. There is also an electrically powered mill here, which was put back into operation in 1992. Next to the chapel stands a 300-year-old lime tree planted to commemorate the abolition of corvée labour.

Village Character and Trails

Dunice’s village character also includes facilities and paths closely connected with everyday village life. Dunice has a footpath with a footbridge over the stream. The village has a wooden bus shelter. Above the village shop there is a sports room for young people, while the dance floor in Dunice has been renovated.

Cycle route No. 0084 between Dolní Kralovice and Čechtice is moderately difficult. It runs along Class III roads and designated-purpose paths, includes asphalt and paved sections, and is suitable for mountain bikes and trekking bikes.
