Trhový Štěpánov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Trhový Štěpánov can be explored through several specific sites and themes – from historical traces and sacred art to the landscape on Paseka Hill.

Culture and History

Bishop Tobiáš of Bechyně granted Trhový Štěpánov town status in 1290. From the former Štěpánov Castle, remains of the walls and a stone from the castle gate dating from 1668 have been preserved.

The Church of St. Bartholomew dates from the period after the mid-14th century and features Neo-Gothic alterations. It contains Gothic murals depicting busts of prophets in medallions. Its grounds also include a cemetery wall with ornate gates and a niche chapel.

The Jewish cemetery in Trhový Štěpánov is freely accessible. It contains gravestones dating from the early 18th century. The protected, very elongated grounds are enclosed by a stone perimeter wall with an entrance house.

Museum and Local Traditions

The Muzeum Štěpánovska is located in a building considered to be one of the oldest in Trhový Štěpánov. It can be visited by prior telephone appointment. The Josefa Tříška Gallery was moved to the Muzeum Štěpánovska in 2012 and opened to the public on 23 June.

The Štěpánovské vinobraní is a popular local wine harvest festival that takes place in another vintage.

Nature and Activities

The Na Pasece lookout tower stands on Paseka Hill at an altitude of 516 m, approximately 1 km northwest of Trhový Štěpánov. On Paseka Hill, a former quarry houses a recreation zone with an educational trail about the history of quarrying and uranium mining.

Cycle Route 8243 connects Trhový Štěpánov with Tehov via the Kladruby Rehabilitation Institute. The paved cycle path is suitable for wheelchair users, cyclists, and inline skaters.
