Nespeky is situated on the Sázava River. At a secluded farmstead in Ledce on the river, within the cadastral territory of Nespeky, stands the Church of Saint Bartholomew. It dates from the second half of the 13th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style in 1736.

Culture and History

The Church of Saint Bartholomew and the associated farmstead form a uniquely preserved example of a small settlement with a medieval church. In Městečko, the stone part of the bell tower was built in 1850 and supplemented in 1858 with a cross on a masonry pedestal.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary dates from around the middle of the 19th century. Above its door is a round medallion made of coloured ceramic depicting the Virgin Mary and the Infant Jesus; inside, there is a painting by V. Tőrstra.

The Petrovic Cross was erected on 6 June 1883 and stands 150 m uphill in the forest on the right, beside a path that branches off before the bus stop. The Nespeky Mill has been documented since 1595 as Havlovský mlýn, with two water wheels and a fulling mill. Its mill building and the power station annex have been preserved in historicist architecture from the second half of the 19th century; the hydroelectric power station was restored in 1997 with its original turbines.

Milča Majerová’s summer house is influenced by Mediterranean architecture.

Water and Trails

The 30 km canoe route from Čerčany to Pikovice passes the weir in Nespeky. At the weir, 1.5 km downstream from Městečko, paddlers must get out of their boats.

A stone bridge over a ravine above the road to Prague can be seen from Potočiny Road or reached via a turn-off from the main road to Prague. Approximately 90% of the cycle path from Zbořený Kostelec to Nespeky runs on paved or asphalt roads; around 10% leads through mildly rocky terrain.

Cuisine

Bistro Ledce offers a culinary visitor experience in meadows along the Sázava River. It serves high-quality coffee, homemade lemonades, beer, natural wines, international cuisine, as well as homemade cakes and other desserts.
