Culture and History

The history of St. Havel’s Church in Neveklov probably dates back to the 13th century. Its masonry is probably largely Gothic; architectural elements from the 13th and 14th centuries have been incorporated into the enclosing wall.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary complements this historic setting as a small Baroque building dating from 1700, opening onto four arcades. The town’s Jewish heritage is also present: around 160 gravestones have been preserved in Neveklov’s Jewish cemetery. The cemetery is locked; a key can be borrowed from the town office cash desk.

Neveklov Synagogue is an unadorned building on the south side of Táborská Street, east of the square. For several years, the Neveklov Information Centre has housed an exhibition featuring works by the local painter and graphic artist Miroslav Mašek. Other exhibitions are also held there throughout the year.
