History

Maršovice was first mentioned in writing in 1205. On 21 August 1568, Emperor Maximilian II granted the settlement market-town status.

Church and Cultural Heritage

The protected church grounds of the Church of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary in Maršovice comprise the church itself, the cemetery wall, the mortuary, the cemetery grounds, and the statue of Saint Adalbert. The church stands on a hill above Maršovice.

Near Maršovice lies Stajice, a vanished donjon-type castle on Stejc Hill. The Stajice castle grounds included a prominent rampart and a moat in front of the castle core. A traditional Old Bohemian pilgrimage is held in Maršovice every year on the first Sunday after Easter. There is also a long tradition of amateur theatre there.
