Culture and History

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Netvořice was rebuilt and consecrated in 1753. It is closed until further notice due to structural damage.

The Sokolovna Netvořice is also part of the town’s history: it was ceremonially opened on 3 August 1923. Regular film screenings were held there from 1930 onward. The Sbor Spasitele in Netvořice was ceremonially opened on 28 September 1937. Netvořice is also home to the monument “Pomník Obětem 1. a 2. světové války”.

Museums

The Městské muzeum Netvořice displays a collection of 580 pieces of stoneware from an 18th-century factory in Týnec. It also features an exhibition about the forced resettlement of Netvořice and its surrounding area during the Second World War. A prototype of the Barták high-wheel bicycle is also on display.

Visits to the Městské muzeum Netvořice can also be arranged outside opening hours by telephone appointment. Another collection is presented by the Muzeum smaltu a smaltovaného nádobí, which features enamel and enamelware. Visitors can learn about the history of enamel products there; Mrs Šmídová guides visitors through the museum and provides expert explanations. Every August, a craft market is held at the Muzeum smaltu a smaltovaného nádobí.
