Nature

The landscape around Chářovice comprises a varied mix of fields, forests, shallow valleys and ponds. The Chářovický Stream rises approximately 300 metres south of Chářovice. Significant ornithological observations, including sightings of specially protected animal species, have been recorded at Velký Chlebský Pond in the Chářovice area.

History and Culture

During the Second World War, Chářovice became part of the Waffen-SS Benešov military training area. The residents of Chářovice had to leave their homes on 1 April 1943.

There is a stone bell tower in Chářovice Park. The war memorial in Chářovice commemorates the soldiers who fell in the First World War, as well as the local police sergeant Jaroslav Piát, who died on 5 May 1945 during the liberation of Prague. The Chapel of Saint John in Chářovice is one of the locally and regionally significant cultural monuments of the village.

The 14-kilometre Pochod Posázavím route runs from Týnec nad Sázavou via Chářovice, Chrášťany, Václavice and Hrusice, and via Krušičany back to Týnec nad Sázavou.
