Zbenice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zbenice is located on the southern edge of the Central Bohemian Region in the Příbram District, on a gentle slope descending from east to west at an elevation of approximately 550 m. At 633 m, Pteč is the highest peak in the cadastral area of Zbenice.

History and Monuments

Zbenice Castle was created when Vilém Šléglovský ze Šicendorfu commissioned the conversion of an older medieval fortress into a Renaissance chateau in 1626; it was later remodelled in the Baroque style.

Zbenice’s local historic monuments include a monument to Saint John of Nepomuk, a monument to the victims of the world wars, and a stone cross on the southern edge of the settlement.

The Trinity niche chapel has a floor plan in the shape of an equilateral triangle with sides measuring 3 m. It stands approximately 1.1 km west of the town of Zbenice, on the edge of the hill known as Mackova hora, near a slope edge that descends steeply westward.

Culture and Trails

Zbenice Castle currently serves as a restoration workshop and is also used for occasional cultural events.

The summit of Pteč in Zbenice can be reached by bicycle, bus, and car. The Orlická přehrada–zámek Orlík cycling route runs through the cadastral area of Zbenice.
